Do you have to sit in front of the computer for long hours at a time? Do you suffer from frequent backaches and shoulder cramps? If so, then these are the warning signs that your body is giving you to caution against possibly impending health problems. The most important thing to remember while working in front of the computer is to take frequent breaks and stretch your body so that you can remain fit and healthy.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is very common among people who have to type on a computer keyboard for long hours. Here are some exercises that the computer professionals can perform without having to step out from their cubicles:

While in a sitting position, stretch your wrists and fingers from time to time. You can also clench your fists and rotate your wrists in clockwise and anti-clockwise direction to get rid of the wrist pain.

After every half an hour, you should stretch your head, neck and shoulders by moving them in a circle or turning from one side to the other. As body posture is very important, you should sit upright in front of the computer and avoid slouching. If you tend to slouch no matter what, be conscious about it and correct your posture every time you find yourself in that position. Keep your elbows lightly on the arm rests of your chair and look straight into the monitor. Make sure to splash your eyes with cold water every hour.

The lower back suffers the most and as you grow old, this portion of the body gets a beating from the rigorous work schedule. Try to move your waist in circles while sitting on your chair and repeat the same action at least ten times in both clockwise and anti-clockwise directions to get the best results.

Follow these tips religiously and you should have no problems with your long work hours any more.
